This walking tour traces the weekend of 1 May 1994 at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, when Imola confronted the darkest moment in a generation of Formula One racing. The town gathered and reflected before the Ayrton Senna Monument in the Parco delle Acque Minerali rather than sealing memory at the circuit itself. From there, we move toward the 4.909-kilometre track, past the observation tower designed by Glauco Gresleri and Riccardo Morandi, then into the Tamburello section, where a flat-out left-hand bend stood in 1994 and has since been rebuilt into the chicane called Variante Tamburello. Throughout the route, you'll encounter memorials to those who died here, and discover how Imola responded: by transforming the circuit rather than closing it, adding chicanes at the crash sites and improving the barriers, while keeping the names visible on signage and markers throughout the circuit. Over 139 minutes of walking and audio stops, the circuit memorializes the dead while hosting races.
